HISTORY:

McDonald's Book Exchange has been in business for over 30 years making us the longest independently owned used bookstore not only in Redmond, but in the entire east side.  Providing a fair and friendly exchange for our community and loyal customers has been our a passion for over thirty years and we hope we can continue that tradition for thirty more!

COMMUNITY:

McDonald's Book Exchange is a proud member of our city, and community has always been one of our most treasured values. We have been recognized multiple times for our contributions to our community by the City of Redmond Chamber of Commerce as well as the Better Business Bureau. Giving back has, and always will be a major part of our philosophy and part of how we do business. We have worked closely for many years with Redmond's Hopelink. Hopelink is a local organization that helps to provide medical, dental, therapy and family services to the members of our community who are most in need. We have helped in procuring donations for Hopelink for nearly a decade. Because the food bank and Hopelink provide services that directly affect the members of our community they will always be causes close to our hearts and the heart of our business.

GO GREEN WITH US!:

Why is McDonald's Book Exchange a "Green" business, you ask?  Well, when you bring your used books into our store you are making a choice to recycle.  By giving your books another life and choosing NOT to throw them away your are, in fact, recycling and supporting a "Green" business!  Remember, buying used is recycling.  Our commitment to our planet and environmental stewardship has always been at the forefront of our business philosophy.  In addition to providing our customers with an outlet for their used books and providing them with a product that is reused and reusable we also offer many other recycling opportunities in our store.  For example we have recently started a small-scale E-cycle operation, asking that our customers bring us their old and unwanted cellular phones, which in turn are donated to a variety of charities including shelters for battered women in need of  safe and anonymous ways to communicate.  We are also collecting used wine corks on behalf of Terra Recycling.  The corks are then re-purposed to make everything from flooring, to pic-nic tables, to playground equipment.  Here at McDonald's Book Exchange we have been reusing your paper and plastic shopping bags for over thirty years (yeah, that's right, waaaaay before it was trendy), and we always encourage our customers to bring in a reusable bag and recycle their old shopping bags with us.  Remember, when you buy from McDonald's Book Exchange you are buying
"Green"!
